Around 30 stakeholders gathered at REBUILD in Riva del Garda for a workshop organised by Eurac Research to discuss the market adoption of ZERAF’s adaptive façade technology.
The session explored key barriers, opportunities, and conditions needed to bring the technology closer to real-world implementation.

A clear message emerged: while investment-related barriers remain significant, practical pathways to adoption are taking shape.

Participants highlighted two priorities for scaling adaptive façade solutions:

• Industrialisation and prefabrication to support cost-effective deployment.
• Integration into architectural practice, enabling designers to consider performance, aesthetics, and building-level impacts from the earliest stages.

The discussion also emphasised the importance of pilot buildings, real-world demonstrations, and strong stakeholder ecosystems to build confidence and accelerate market uptake.

Public incentives were identified as another key factor, with participants calling for policies that recognise whole-life and system-level benefits rather than focusing only on short-term metrics.

The workshop is helping ZERAF’s journey from research to market, providing insights for future demonstration activities and deployment strategies.
